U.S. continues support of ISIS in Syria

SHAFAQNA – According to Daily Mail, Tehran has proof the U.S. directly supports ISIS and Washington is behind most of the terrorist acts in the world. This was announced by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mostafa Izadi. Besides, Izadi stressed that the U.S. used this support as an instrument of “proxy warfare in the region”. However, it should be mentioned that Mostafa Izadi hasn’t presented any documents that would prove his claims yet.
It is notable that it’s not the first time when the Iranian government accused Washington of supporting terrorism. Earlier, Parliament Speaker, Ali Larijani, called the U.S. the “international” version of the Islamic State group and said Washington had exchanged democracy for money. He also said the White House’s possible involvement in the terrorist attack at Iran’s Parliament building and the mausoleum of Auatollah Ruhollah Khomeini that took place on June 7.
Against the background of the recent events, such harsh statements of the Iranian government seem to be quite relevant. Nowadays, there are several signs that Washington is indirectly supporting terrorists. First, the U.S.-led Coalition’s Air Force repeatedly carries out air strikes on the positions of the Syrian Army and pro-government forces. Besides, just after such attacks, ISIS terrorists frequently intensify an offensive.
In its turn, the U.S. Central Command justifies such attacks by absurd allegations that the government forces “posed a threat” to U.S. bases and training camps for the Syrian armed opposition.
Secondly, the current U.S. administration intends to aggravate and weaken the economic situation in those countries that in fact fight terrorism and try to establish stability in the region – Iran, Syria, and Russia. This is shown in the expansion of the sanctions against these countries.
Thirdly, the Pentagon has never coordinated its actions in Syria with the Syrian government, and, apparently, it is not going to do this in the future. Shall we talk about a frank violation of all existing norms of international law and the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council?
We remind that, earlier, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan publicly announced the U.S. involvement in the support of ISIS terrorists in late December 2016. According to him, the U.S.-led coalition fighting in Iraq and Syria supports ISIS terrorists. Erdogan added that the Coalition’s aircraft often dumped “humanitarian aid” for the “moderate” opposition directly into the hands of terrorists.
The result of such help we can observe now. The Syrian Army often discovers large weapons depots with US-made arms in liberated territory. One of these depots is located in the east of the province of Homs.
Obviously, if Washington was really interested in fighting terrorism, in particular ISIS, we would not have seen any indiscriminate air strikes, protracted operations, or tougher sanctions. It seems that under the pretext of fighting ISIS in Syria, the United States are using terrorists to prevent the successful advancement of the Syrian Army, and promote their own interests in Syria.
