SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Sistani answered a question about determining Eid-ul-Fitr.

Question: Must religious authority be followed for determining Eid-ul-Fitr?

The Grand Ayatollah Sistani: The beginning of the month is not approved by the decree of the religious authority; unless from his decree or approval of sighting the moon by him, it is made certain that the moon has been sighted.
