Is there a connection between poverty and disbelief?

SHAFAQNA – In many occasions, the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) used to consider poverty and disbelief at the same level and said: I seek refuge in God from disbelief and poverty, and when a person asked the Prophet (PBUH): From both of them? The Prophet (PBUH) replied: Yes [1]. In another narration the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) explained the reason for the above statement, by saying: If it was not for God’s mercy and pity on the poor people of my Ummah, it was near that poverty could lead to disbelief [2]. In the book of Makaremul Akhlaq, the Prophet (PBUH) recited in a Dua: O’ Allah (SWT), make the bread blessed for us, and do not allow separation between us and the bread, because when there is no bread, we cannot perform Salaat, or fast, or do our other Wajib Divine Duties.
