Humanity Supports Palestine: Turkish PM

SHAFAQNA – Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim underlined the support of the world’s Muslims and Christians for Palestine.

“Both the Muslim world and the Christian world, in short humanity, looked out for the rightful cause of the Palestinians, which has been going on for years,” he said Saturday, speaking at a Justice and Development (AK) Party event in the northwestern province of Edirne.

Yildirim added that in the near future, the whole world will recognize Palestine with East Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.

He also criticized the recent decision by US President Donald Trump to declare Quds as the Zionist regime’s capital, saying all Muslim and independent states in the world have opposed the “selfish) decision.

Trump officially declared the disputed city Israel’s capital, despite warnings from around the world that the measure risks triggering a fresh wave of violence in the Middle East.

In a speech at the White House on December 6, Trump said his administration would also begin a years-long process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the holy city.

Israel has occupied East Quds since the 1967 Middle East war. It annexed the area in 1980 and sees it as its exclusive domain. Under international law, the area is considered to be occupied territory.
