SHAFAQNA – The chairman of the ongoing 13th session of the OIC Parliamentary Union on Tuesday called on Muslim nations to endeavor to defeat Islamophobia propaganda.
The Islamic countries with the help of each other could overcome terrorism and compel them to withdraw, Mahmud Erol Kiliç, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states (PUIC) said in his opening address to the event in the Iranian capital.
The top Islamic official appreciated Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for his presence in the conference and also his support for the gathering which is being held with the participation of parliamentary delegates from 44 countries.
The 13th session of the PUIC began in Tehran earlier on Tuesday with a speech by President Rouhani who urged the need to ‘solve our problems through peaceful solutions.’
‘We support constructive interaction in the Islamic World with each other based on equal footage, in which there is no room for foreign interference and exploitation,’ said the Iranian president.
Kiliç too, hoped that Muslim countries would have constructive cooperation.
He further condemned measures taken by the occupying and terrorist states in Palestine, urging the Islamic parliaments to play effective role in dealing with the crucial issue of the Muslim world.
The 13th PUIC Conference will end its work on Wednesday by issuing a final statement, the official concluded.
The PUIC conference is focused on the questions of the World of Islam including the issue of Palestine as well as political affairs and foreign relations, human rights, women and family affairs, cultural and legal affairs, dialogue of civilizations and religion, economic affairs, and the environment.
