Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS) describing the virtue of the month of Rajab

virtue of month of Rajab

SHAFAQNA – Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS) quoted that:

رَجَبٌ شَهرٌ عَظِیمٌ یُضاعِفُ اللهُ فیهِ الحَسَناتِ ویَمْحُو فیهِ السَّیِّئاتِ

How beautiful is this quotation. This quotation states that the month of Rajab is a great month and Allah (SWT) doubles the reward of good activities and forgives the sins in this month.

Quran and Knowledge service of Shabestan news agency reported that many beautiful narrations are present describing the greatness of the month of Rajab and due to these narrations a ray of hope makes way in a human heart. Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS) states that

رَجَبٌ شَهرٌ عَظِیمٌ یُضاعِفُ اللهُ فیهِ الحَسَناتِ ویَمْحُو فیهِ السَّیِّئاتِ

Yet again, how beautiful is the quotation. It states that the month of Rajab is a great month and Allah (SWT) turns the reward of good activities into two folds and forgives the sins in this month. When we read this quotation, we should notice that we have already entered this blessed month.

Head of Madrasa Illmia Imam Mehdi (AS) Ayatollah Qarhi shared his views about the greatness of the month of Rajab which are as follows:

One of the blessings of this month is the production of condition of hope inside a human heart and due to shedding of tears, prayers and supplicating acts in this month; a person can keep himself away from the evil so that he enters the month of Allah (SWT).

What should we do to enter the month of Allah (SWT), i.e. Ramadan?

This is a good question but the blessings of Ramadan can only be comprehended by the month of Rajab. Hadith Qudsi states that

جعلت هذا الشهر حبلاً بینی و بین عبادی فمن اعتصم به وصل إلیّ

The month of Rajab is a rope between Allah (SWT) and the believers, one who firmly holds this rope will reach Allah (SWT). It states in clear words that by holding this rope means that inside of a person exists good and pure spirit. The person who has faith in it and tries to reach purification is holding the rope which, according to Hadith Qudsi, is a means to earn closeness with Allah (SWT).

Indeed efforts to seek closeness of Allah (SWT) takes a person towards perfection and also purifies the soul and makes him a friend of Allah (SWT), hence the month of Rajab should not be wasted because it is a spiritual path of reaching Allah (SWT). That’s why Allah (SWT) stated in Quran that

الشَّهر شَهري و العَبدُ عَبدي و الرَّحمَةُ رَحمَتي فَمَن دَعاني في هذَا الشَّهرِ أجَبتُهُ و مَن سَألَني أعطَيتُهُ

Meaning that this is my month, the creation is my creation and this blessing is my blessing. In short, one should know that the doors of blessings of Allah (SWT) are open to turn to Allah (SWT) and to ask for relief from sins. Allah (SWT) also states that whoever calls me in this month, I (SWT) will accept his prayer and whosoever asks for a need, I, Allah (SWT) will fulfill his wish.
