SHAFAQNA – Mohamed Ali was a legendary boxer during the 20th century in the United States who died a few years ago. He converted to Islam in 1965 and had a great influence on black youths who found Islam a cornerstone in their struggles against racism. The following images recorded on February 17, 1985 show him at the Beir-ul-Abd Mosque in Beirut’s Dahieh. The imam at the forefront is Sheikh Naim Qassim, the current deputy general secretary of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
