Quran Competition Held in Kenya

According to the Iranian Cultural Center in Kenya, the Grand Mosque of the capital city hosted the Quranic event from the beginning of the holy month.

A total of 67 girls and 109 boys from 27 elementary schools competed on memorization and recitation of 5, 10, 15 and 30 Juzes (parts) of the Quran.

The main objective of the competition was to encourage the students to learn Quran reading and memorize the Divine verses.

The competition concluded on the 9th of the holy month of Ramadan.

Islam is the religion of approximately 11.1 percent of the Kenyan population, or approximately 4.3 million people.

The Kenyan coast is mostly populated by Muslims. Nairobi, the capital, has several mosques and a notable Muslim population.
