Iran crowned at World Junior Wushu Champs in Brazil

SHAFAQNA – IRNA :  For the first time, Young Iranian Wushu team ranked first in World Junior Wushu Championships in Taolu and Sanda competitions, held in Brasilia on Monday.

The Iranian practitioners bagged 11 gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals in Taolu and Sanda competitions.

It is for the first time that Iranian Wushu team managed to stand the first place in Taolu and Sanda competitions simultaneously.

Some 400 athletes from 45 countries took part in the competitions which started on July 9 in Brasilia, Brazil.

The event is slated to wrap up on July 16.

Wushu is a martial art and a full-contact sport. It was developed in China after 1949, in an effort to standardize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts.
