What is the ruling on receiving gifts from clients by the employees of an organisation? The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered a question about receiving gifts from clients by the employees of an organisation for expressing gratitude.

Question: What is the ruling if an individual presents a gift to an employee of an organisation for expressing gratitude? Even though that employee does not expect any favours for the task which has been carried out?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: Giving gifts in the work environment by the clients is one of the most dangerous cases, and the more it is avoided, it will be (more) beneficial for this world and the hereafter. Only in one condition, receiving gift is allowed and that is when the person who gives the gift insists a lot and the employee is reluctant to accept it, and eventually somehow the gift is presented. And this happens after the task is completed and without any previous discussion or even without any previous expectation.
