Zarif asked for more investigation on Israel’s nuclear program after Netanyahu’s false show at UNGA

SHAFAQNA – After Israel Prime Minister’s false show at United Nations general assembly, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif asked for more scrutiny on Israel’s nuclear program.

Speaking at United Nations general assembly on Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister accused Iran of maintaining a secret atomic warehouse in Tehran.

It was not his first claim against Iran in General Assembly. In past years he argued vociferously against signing the nuclear accord with Iran, coming with photographs and map coordinates of the facility. As he did in past presentations, Netanyahu brought visual aids to illustrate his claims.
“Today, I am disclosing for the first time that Iran has another secret facility in Tehran,” Netanyahu said in UN general assembly. “A secret atomic warehouse for storing massive amounts of equipment and material from Iran’s secret nuclear weapons program”, NY Times reported.
According to The Guardian, he held up a satellite image which he claims it shows where the warehouse was located in Tehran, and a photograph of a nondescript wall and metal gate, which he said it shows the exterior of warehouse.
Netanyahu showed an aerial photograph of the Iranian capital marked with a red arrow and pointed to what he said was a previously secret warehouse holding nuclear-related material.

What kind of equipment and material?
What kind equipment and material? Netanyahu did not answer this question. He did not describe what kinds of equipment and material were contained in the warehouse. Some types of equipment, especially if it was dismantled or could be put to a variety of industrial uses, may be permissible under the terms of the accord.
Netanyahu’s claims were expressed in terms that the nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has repeatedly certified that Iran is abiding by the terms of the JCPOA Since 2015.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) – reached by Iran, China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, the US and the European Union – sets out rigorous mechanisms for monitoring restrictions placed on Iran’s nuclear program, while paving the way for the lifting of sanctions against Iran.

Call for new sanctions against Iran
Netanyahu, who from the start has opposed the accord, said Iranian officials were now “scurrying back and forth” trying to clean up the site, removing 15 kilogrammes of radioactive material last month.
The claims came with his request for new sanctions. Israel’s prime minister called for new sanctions against Iran and accused European leaders of “appeasement” for opposing them.

“I have to ask: have whether these European leaders learned nothing from history? Will they ever wake up?” Netanyahu added ,“Europe’s leaders instead of cuddling Iran’s dictators, join the US and Israel and most of the Arab world in supporting new sanctions against a regime that endangers all of us in all of the world,” said Israel Prime Minister.

It is not the first time that Netanyahu openly claims against Iran’s nuclear program. In April in a similarly dramatic presentation, Netanyahu unveiled what Israel claimed was a nuclear archive that the country’s intelligence services claim they had seized and smuggled out of Tehran. In that speech, he said there is evidence of a large secret archive of documents related to Iran’s clandestine nuclear weapons program at a different site in Tehran.
Documents purported to have been part of the archive appear to have previously been seen by the IAEA, as early as 2005 and made public by the agency in 2011.

Israel is not in a position to question other countries
Iran’s foreign minister said that the Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu trumped up a case of “notebook” some years ago, and built hype for it, making the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to spend much time and money to investigate it.
Mohammad-Javad Zarif said the Israeli Prime Minister is a “crying wolf” and that the Israel is not in a position to question other countries’ peaceful nuclear programs, Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that there should be more scrutiny on Israel’s nuclear program.

“No arts & craft show will ever obfuscate that Israel is only regime in our region with a *secret* and *undeclared* nuclear weapons program – including an *actual atomic arsenal*. Time for Israel to fess up and open its illegal nuclear weapons program to international inspectors,” Zarif tweeted.

According to Fars News, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said “The world will only laugh loudly at this type of false, meaningless and unnecessary speech and false shows”.
