SHAFAQNA- Alkafeel: Resumption of work by cladding the floors, walls and Iwans of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).
After a pause of more than a month because of the Ziyarat Arba’een, the work started again in the second part of the second phase of the cladding project of the shrine and sanctuary of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), which included cladding the Iwans’ floors and space between them and the Kashi Karbala’i covering them with luxury marble.
The Head of the Department of Engineering Projects Department at the al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine; Engineer Dea’ Majeed al-Sa’egh stated: “After the completion of the first part of the project’s second phase located between the al-‘Alqami and Imam Ali al-Hadi (peace be upon him) gates, before the Ziyarat Ashura. We have sopped the works until the end of the Ziyarat Arba’een to not intersect the visitors’ movement. And today, we have started the work in this area located between the al-Kaf and al-‘Alqami gates southeast the holy shrine, which includes nine Iwans.”
Indicating: “These works were preceded by the removal of old marble and its adhesives and the treatment of the wall with special construction materials. As for the sanctuary, all the infrastructure works of the sanctuary were completed from water drainage networks to connections of electricity and communications systems, executed by the staff of Engineering Maintenance Department.”
He pointed out that the new marble, which will be used in the cladding works, is of the type of “multi-onyx” that has been subjected to several technical and engineering tests in terms of endurance and consistency of color and thickness, in addition to other specifications that gave beauty to these marble pieces, with the addition of decorative marble pieces to be on both sides of each Iwan, centered by small fountains to drink water to replace existing water reservoirs.”
It is to note that the shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) has witnessed the implementation of a number of projects that have been developed according to specific spatial and temporal plans that are suitable for each project and its specificities, such as this project that is no less important than the rest, namely Project of cladding the holy shrine with marble, which was installed since the seventies of the last century.
