SHAFAQNA– Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif blamed the US President for his hostility remark toward Iran nation.
“A nation IS its people, @realdonaldtrump. Repeatedly calling Iran a “terrorist nation” reveals hostility toward an entire people & exposes the real reason for targeting them with your illegal sanctions”, zarif said in a post on his Twitter account.
He added “But US hawks’ dream of ‘uprooting the Iranian nation’ will never be realized.”
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday shortly after releasing a statement in which he promised that the US would remain a “steadfast partner” of Saudi Arabia, Trump said the CIA report into Khashoggi’s killing by Saudi agents of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi found “nothing definitive”, Aljazeera reported.
“The CIA looked at it,” he said at the White House. “They have nothing definitive.”
Asked by a reporter if he was saying that human rights are too expensive to fight for, Trump said “No, I’m not saying that at all.” But then he switched the subject to the “terrorist nation” of Iran rather than any actions by Saudi Arabia, Tasnim News Agency told.
The US President had previously attempted to show that he was a supporter of the Iranian people and their rights and had made a number of speeches and issued statements calling Iranians a civilized, cultured nation.
In mid-October 2017, Trump had called Iran a “terrorist nation” a few hours prior to the announcement of his official policy towards Iran, persiadigest reported.
