Can a woman stop fulfilling marital duties before receiving her dowry in full? The Grand Ayatollah Sobhani’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Sobhani answered a question about dowry.

Question: Why before receiving all of her dowry a woman can stop fulfilling marital duties?

The Grand Ayatollah Sobhani: Nikah, establishes the relationship between a man and a woman and because of Nikah, they become a couple. Contrary to buying and selling which is a relationship between two properties, and the seller and the buyer they are both outside the property itself. Of course, in permanent Nikah, dowry (Mahr) is a binding condition on the husband and there is no problem to avoid marital duties due to the binding condition.
