Blasts have no effect on security of Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province

SHAFAQNA- Two sound bombs exploded in front of a police station in the city of Zahedan in southeastern Iran [1], local officials told state media Tuesday, causing minor injuries to three police officers. Blasts caused by two improvised explosive devices (IED) left no casualties and just inflicted minor damage on some houses, local official said.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Deputy Governor of Sistan-Baluchestan Province for security affairs, Mohammad Hadi Marashi said investigations are still underway by security and police forces.

Emphasizing the fact that such measures have no effect on security of the province, he said that related officials spare no effort to promote the level of security in the province.

Earlier, Police Commander of Sistan-Baluchestan Brigadier General Mohammad Ghanbari had said that three police officers were injured while trying to defuse the explosives.

Jaish al-Adl, a militant group, claimed responsibility for the explosions. The group said it had targeted a police station with “two strong bombs”, damaging a police car and motorcycle, Reuters told .

In October, Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for kidnapping 10 Iranian security personnel including Revolutionary Guards in Sistan-Baluchestan. Some are still being held.
