SHAFAQNA- President of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that, “Fighting terrorists in Iraq has been achieved through the Iraqi people’s self-sacrifice and is a great honour for Muslims and the World of Islam”.
Speaking in a meeting with Advisor of the National Security Council and Chairman of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) of Iraq Falih Alfayyadh on Tuesday, Hassan Rouhani also described the presence and fatwas of great ulama in Iran and Iraq in the fight against terrorism and colonialism beneficial for the peoples of the region and said, “The Popular Mobilization Forces have had, and will have, a very important role in consolidating stability, culture and solidarity in Iraq”.
The President went on to refer to the millions of Iranian pilgrims visiting Iraq as the best symbol of great respect for the progeny of the Prophet and expressed hope that the two countries’ goals would be achieved.
Advisor of the National Security Council and Chairman of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) of Iraq Falih Alfayyadh said in the meeting, “Development of relations between Iran and Iraq lays the ground for great developments in the region”.
“Deepening cultural, scientific and social cooperation between the two countries is a firm support for closer relations between the two countries,” he said.
Iran to continue its role in resolving regional problems
Speaking with the Leader of National Wisdom Movement of Iraq Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim on Tuesday, Hassan Rouhani said, “We should attempt to carry out our responsibilities towards the two nations well” , Official website of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran reported.
Hassan Rouhani stated that Iran and Iraq play an important role in the region, adding, “We should plan based on conditions, causes and goals of the two nations and take steps for deepening Tehran-Baghdad relations and cooperation”.
Major world powers, especially the USA have always sought to hatch plots against the peoples of the region, he said, adding, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to continue its role in resolving regional problems and promoting interaction among countries”.
Leader of National Wisdom Movement of Iraq Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim said in the meeting, “Today, Iraq has been able to overcome great challenges and get on the track of reconstruction and development, for which stronger relations with Iran can be effective”.
“We consider it our duty to stand up to the greed and propaganda of major world powers against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.
Iran and Iraq, alongside other countries in the region
Speaking with the Former Prime Minister of Iraq Haider al-Abadi on Tuesday, Hassan Rouhani said, “We should attempt to promote multilateral cooperation among the countries of the region in different fields such as transit, railways and combatting terrorism”.
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasised that Iran and Iraq, alongside other countries in the region like Turkey, play an important role in the region.
“Fortunately, relations between the people and different governments of Iran and Iraq have always had a positive trend and the authorities of the two countries have followed the path of further development of these relations well,” he said.
Rouhani added, “Today, we should attempt to deepen Tehran-Baghdad cooperation in different fields such as trade, economy and higher educations through developing relations between political activists, parties and universities of the two countries”.
Former Prime Minister of Iraq Haider al-Abadi described the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq very important and said, “The two countries have had very closer relations and cooperation in the recent years, especially in fighting terrorism in the region”.
Iraqi politicians play a key role in security and stability
Speaking in a meeting with the Former Prime Minister of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki on Tuesday, Hassan Rouhani said, “Relations between Iran and Iraq have always been good”.
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran said, “Friendly relations between the Iranian and Iraqi governments and nations have been maintained well in the recent years, and are developing with the efforts of the authorities of the two sides”.
“Iraqi distinguished figures and politicians, in any position, play an important role in the development, security and stability of the country and Tehran-Baghdad relations,” he said.
He also appreciated the stances of the parliament and previous governments in Iraq for cooperation, adding, “We are determined to develop relations and cooperation with Iraq based on mutual interests”.
Former Prime Minister of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki described Rouhani’s visit to Iraq a very important and historic one for relations between the two countries.
He said, “Iran and Iraq can further deepen their ties in different fields such as economy, trade, investment and regional and international fields”.
Enemies, by creating Daesh, wanted to set the region on fire
Enemies, by creating and supporting Daesh, wanted to set the region on fire and promote animosity, war and bloodshed among people, President Rouhani said Addressing a meeting of heads of Iraqi tribes on Tuesday.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says the reason behind promotion of ISIS (Daesh) by the enemies was fanning religious and sectarian wars among regional countries.
Regional nations with Iraqi people standing on the top have foiled this conspiracy and defeated terrorism, he said, adding it is an honor for Iran to stand by Iraqi people and government.
Despite the existing media hype, US and the West had no role in defeating Daesh and they just conducted some fake operations.
He warned that terrorism still exists and the Americans have other dreams for the region and are transferring terrorists to other places in the region, including Central Asia, Caucasus and Afghanistan.
President Rouhani called for unity and solidarity among regional countries to stand against the current threats.
Exploring avenues for promoting bilateral relations in the political, economic and cultural fields are among the main objectives of the Iranian president’s official visit to Iraq, IRNA reported.
Iranian, Iraqi nations fully united in culture, belief/ No power can separate this united community
Addressing the Iraqi elite, nomads and religious leaders on Tuesday, President Hassan Rouhani said, “No power can separate this united community”.
President described the bonds between the Iranian and Iraqi nations very strong and said, “The fact that millions of Iranians travel to Iraq, especially Karbala and Najaf, in a year, indicates that the two nations are completely united in terms of culture and beliefs”.
“We consider this land as the land of jihad, martyrdom, self-sacrifice and devotion,” he said, expressing happiness over visiting Karbala and making pilgrimage.
He continued, “The people of Ira, especially Karbala, warmly welcome Iranian pilgrims during Arba’een and I would like to thank them on behalf of the Iranian nation”.
The President added, “We are very happy that there is more unity, brotherhood and solidarity between the Iranian and Iraqi nations”.
“The first people that came to help Iraq in their fight against ISIS and Al-Qaeda, were the people of Iran,” he said, adding, “After the occupation of Mosul by ISIS terrorists, we announced in a public speech that we would not tolerate threats against holy cities of Iraq, including Karbala”.
He went on to congratulate the Iraqi nation, nomads and marjas for foiling the plots of the enemies against the region and Iraq, adding, “In this stage, the two governments agreed to issue visas free of charge”.
“The two governments also decided to deepen economic relations and create border markets for investment by Iranian and Iraqi tradespeople,” he said.
Dr Rouhani also said, “We are trying to make academic relations between the two countries closer and, in doing so, we are ready to provide several laboratories for Iraqi universities”.
He said, “Unity and integrity in Iraq is to the benefit of Iraq and the entire region and the two countries agree on security and stability issues”.
