SHAFAQNA- Grand Ayatollah Mohmmad Said al-Hakim, Top Shia Marj’a has strongly condemned the attack by terrorists against two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday March 15 and called for fight against racist ideologies.
Ayatollah al-Hakim in a statement has noted that criminal individuals with racist and terrorist thoughts opened fire at worshippers in two mosques, killing some 50 people and injuring dozens of others. The statement condemned this act of terror arising from grudging racism and called on concerned parties to pay attention to:
- Protection of mosques, husseyniyah, prayer halls, places of worship and providing Muslims with appropriate space to be able to hold their religious duties and prayers in total security.
- Fight against racism, which is another form of terrorism, the arrest and trial of those who spread and support these ideologies.
The statement further offers condolences to the families of victims and the Muslim community in New Zealand and asks God Almighty to heal the wounds of those injured in this heinous act of terror.
