Photos: Karbala International Book Fair’s closing ceremony

SHAFAQNA- Alkafeel: In a ceremony held in the Hall of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) at the al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine, the 15th edition of the Karbala [1]International Book Fair was concluded on Sunday 8th of Sha’ban 1440 AH corresponding to April, 14, 2019, After ten days of intensive intellectual efforts in 140 pavilions, hosting publishing houses and institutions , and libraries belonging to eight countries (USA, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iran and Tunisia as well as the host country Iraq). This Ceremony has been done in the presence of a number of members of the Board of Directors of the two holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) and members of the preparatory committee of the exhibition, as well as the representatives of the holy shrines, the honorable sanctuaries and the Sunni Waqf endowment, in addition to the representatives of publishing houses, libraries and participating institutions.
The ceremony started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran [2] followed by reading Surat al-Fatiha in memory of the martyrs of Iraq, and then the speech of the Fair administration was delivered by its Director Dr. Mushtaq al-Ali.
Then Mr. Hussayn Khalifa, General Manager of al-Wala’ Establishment for Publishing Industry in Lebanon, delivered the word of the exhibitors, thanking the organizers for this opportunity.
This was followed by honoring representatives of the Brigade of Ali al-Akbar (peace be upon him) and the al-Abbas’s (p) Fighting Squad , thanks to whose sacrifices this Fair and other events in the beloved Iraq would not take place. The ceremony continued by honoring representatives of the holy shrines and sanctuaries and the Sunni Waqf Endowment. Then the four distinctive publishing houses in this edition was honored, namely: Dar al-Mahajja al-Bayda’, Dar al-Irshad and Dar al-Qare’ from Lebanon, and Dar Ibn Fahd al-Hilli from Iraq [3].
