Numbers of inspiring verses from Holy Quran

SHAFAQNA- Iqna: Because the holy month of Ramadan [1] is the month of the Holy Quran [2], here are some inspiring Quranic verses that over the past 14 centuries have moved hearts.

“He Who created death and life so that He may test which of you is best in deed…” (67:2)

“It is not righteousness that you turn your faces east or west. But it is righteousness to believe in God, and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your wealth, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity, to fulfill the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing.” (2:177)

“Those who believe and perform good deeds We shall indeed grant pardon to them for their misdeeds and shall reward them according to the best of their deeds.” (29:7)

“And what is the uphill road? It is to free a slave, or to feed in a day of hunger–an orphan near of kin, or some poor in misery. Then to be those who believe and exhort one another to patience and to compassion.” (90:12-17)

“Who is better in speech than the one who summons people unto God, and performed a good deed and says, ‘Truly I am of the believers.’” (41:33)

“…The believers, men and women, are protecting friends one of another; they enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and they establish worship and they pay the poor-due, and they obey Allah and His messenger. As for these, Allah will have mercy on them. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise.” (9:71)

“The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases, and Allah is All-embracing, All-Knowing.” (2:261)

“In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.” (opening words to all but one chapter of the Holy Quran)

“Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has faith, verily to him (or her) We will give a new Life, and life that is good and pure, and We will reward them according to the best of their actions.” (16:97)

“Nor can Goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with that which is better: then he between whom and you was hatred will become as if he were your friend and intimate.” (41:34-5)

“Therefore remember Me. I will remember you. Be grateful to Me and never show me ingratitude.” (2:152)

“…And whosoever fears Allah…He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine…” (65:2-3)

“Do you think that you will enter paradise without such trials as came to those who passed away before you? They experienced suffering and adversity and were so shaken in spirit that even the Prophet and the faithful who were with him cried, “When will Allah’s help come?” Ah, verily the help of Allah is near.” (2:214)

“Wealth and sons are allurements of the life of this world: but the things that endure, Good Deeds, are best in the sight of thy Lord, as rewards, and best as (the foundation for) hopes.” (18:46)

“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even if it be against yourselves, your parents, and your relatives, or whether it is against the rich or the poor…” (4:135)

“We have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a mercy to all the worlds.” (21:107)

“Know that the life of this world is play and a passing show, and adornment and boasting among you, and rivalry between you over piled up goods and children. It is like vegetation after a rain whose growth is pleasing to the farmers, but later it dries up and turns yellow and becomes straw stubble. And in the Final World there is a terrible chastisement and (also) forgiveness from God, and contentment. The present life is but the enjoyment of delusion.” (57:20)

“And most certainly shall We try you by means of danger, and hunger, and loss of worldly goods, of lives and of [labor’s] fruits. But give glad tidings unto those who are patient in adversity – who, when calamity befalls them, say, “Verily, unto God do we belong and, verily, unto Him we shall return.” It is they upon whom their Sustainer’s blessings and grace are bestowed.” (2:155-57)

“It is not their meat nor their blood (from sacrifices) that reaches Allah: It is your piety that reaches Him…” (22:37)

“…And take a provision for the journey, but the best provision is piety. So fear Me, oh you who are wise.” (2:197)

“When my servants question you about me, tell them that I am near. I answer their prayers when they call on me; let them answer my call. Let them trust in me, that they may be guided along the path of righteousness.” (2:186)

“And say: Truth has (now) arrived, and Falsehood has perished: for Falsehood is (by its nature) bound to perish.” (17:81)

“In time We will show them Our Signs in the utmost Horizons and within themselves, so that it will become manifest to them that this is indeed the Truth. Is it not enough (for them to know) that your Lord is Witness to all things?” (41:53)

“Those who spend their wealth in self-purification, and have in their minds no favor from anyone for which a reward is expected, but have only the desire to seek the pleasure of their Lord Most High, soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction.” (92:18-21)

“And I created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone).” (51:56)

“…He sends down the angels with the Spirit of His divine inspiration to those among His servants that He chooses, enjoining them: ‘Warn humankind that there is no other God save Me. Therefore remain devoted to Me.’” (16:2)

“And how many a city did We destroy while it was committing wrong – so it is [now] fallen into ruin – and [how many] an abandoned well and [how many] a lofty palace? So have they not traveled through the earth and have hearts by which to reason and ears by which to hear? For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts.” (22:45-6)

“If Allah helps you, none can overcome you. If He forsakes you, who is there, afterward, that can help you? In Allah, then, let the believers put their trust.” (3:160)

“There has come to you from God a light and a luminous Book, through which God, by His grace, guides all who seek His good pleasure on the path of peace, and brings them out of the depths of darkness into light and guides them unto a Straight Path.” (5:15-16)
