Desecrated Quran found in a trash dump in Saudi Arabia

SHAFAQNA- Iqna: Many Muslims [1] in social media got angry after the release of a video showing copies of the Holy Quran [2] discarded in a trash dump in Saudi Arabia.

The video, released in several social media networks, shows desecration of the Quran in the city of Khaybar, some 160 km to the north of Medina, according to chouftv.ma website.

Social media users have condemned the incident and called for brining those behind it to justice.

According to RT Arabic, the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs has also slammed the incident and vowed to pursue the issue and punish the perpetrators.

In recent years, there have been numerous cases of disregard for the sanctity of the Quran in Saudi Arabia.

They ranged from discarding Qurans in drainage systems to desecration of Quran by prison guards.

In 2017, a large number of copies of the Holy Quran were founded discarded in the street drainage system in one of the district of Taif.

In 2014, a Saudi citizen found torn copies of Islam’s Holy Book in garbage cans again in the same city.

In 2013, Quran copies were found in the sewage system in Taif.

Later that year, insulting the Holy Book by prison officials in Al-Haer province led to protests in different parts of the country.
