Ayatollah Khamenei’s Adviser Underlines Iran’s Support for Oppressed Muslims

SHAFAQNA – Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati reiterated Tehran’s unwavering support for the oppressed Muslims across the world.

“As Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei) has stated, the Islamic Republic of Iran sides with the oppressed in the Muslim world, particularly in Western Asia and North Africa,” Velayati told reporters after his Monday meeting with Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham in Tehran.

“We believe that the righteous front will emerge victorious,” he added, referring to the resistance movement against the hegemonic powers that have been fomenting crises in regional countries.

Velayati, who is also a top adviser to the Leader, further said reciprocal visits by Iranian, Syrian, Iraqi and Yemeni officials indicate the strong “brotherly” ties among the countries and the growing trend of solidarity among Muslim nations.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said the US and its regional allies have created crises in the Middle East to provide a safe haven for Israel in the region.

The regional developments in recent years are indicative of “a pervasive conspiracy by the US, the Zionists and reactionaries in the region,” Velayati said, describing the plot, however, as “a dream which will never come true”.

Earlier, in the meeting with Velayati, the Syrian parliament speaker appreciated Tehran’s supports for Damascus, saying that the Syrian people and government will never forget the assistance provided by the Iranian nation.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) currently controlling parts of it, mostly in the east.

The US and its regional allies have been supporting the militants operating inside Syria for more than four years.
