Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi condemned the Israeili attacks on al-Aqsa Mosque

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- In a statement issued on Wednesday, the senior cleric underlined that Muslims should not remain silent over these attacks.

Israeli settlers have launched an arson attack on a Palestinian mosque in a village in the occupied West Bank, torching part of the holy place.

“The settlers set fire to the whole of the first floor of the mosque” in the village of al-Mughayir, near the West Bank city of Ramallah overnight, Palestinian security officials said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the al-Aqsa Mosque, third holiest site of Islam, has been the scene of clashes between Palestinians and Israeli settlers and troops in recent weeks.

The al-Aqsa compound, located in the Israeli-occupied Old City of al-Quds, is a flashpoint holy Islamic site. The location of the compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, is the holiest site in Judaism. The mosque is Islam’s third holiest site after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
