SHAFAQNA – Bahrain’s religious scholars or the Ulama called on Bahrainis to take part in supplication sessions for the health of Sheikh Isa Qassim.
The Ulama asked that the gatherings be organized in a number of locations including mosques and privet homes.
Sheikh Qassim, Bahrain’s highest religious authority, was transferred to hospital on Monday more than a week after being diagnosed with an abdominal hernia.
Manama revoked his citizenship last summer and he has lived under ‘siege’ in Bahrain’s northwestern village of Diraz ever since.
The 80-year old cleric is a leading voice in Bahrain’s pro-democracy movement, demanding political and social reforms in Bahrain.
