Breaking fast (Iftar) with non-Halal food / the Grand Ayatollah Sistani’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Sistani answered a question about breaking fast (Iftar) with non-Halal food.

Question: I am a student in USA. It is Ramadhan now and I have a question. As there are no facilities and due to shortage of time, I am forced to break my fast (Iftar) outside my residence, and also the food which contains meat like chicken and other meat that I order is not slaughtered according to Islamic way. I wanted to ask scholar’s opinion about this question and find a solution?

The Grand Ayatollah Sistani: Fasting does not become void (Batel), but eating them is Haram, and your mouth and anything else which touches it, becomes Najis.
