Britain’s Prince Harry to share Ramadan Iftar with Singaporean Muslims

SHAFAQNA – Britain’s Prince Harry will join an iftar with Singaporean Muslims this Ramadan during his visit to the south-Asian country aimed at raising fund for his charity.

Queen Elizabeth II’s 32-year-old grandson is due to drop by Singapore shores for the first time ever on June 3 to participate in annual fundraising event, the Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup.

Kensington Palace announced that the Prince will be breaking fast with young Singaporeans during his visit, as well as attending an Action for Aids reception at Eden Hall.

Ramadan, the holiest month in Islamic calendar, is expected to start on Friday night, May 26.

In Ramadan, adult Muslims, save the sick and those traveling, abstain from food, drink, smoking between dawn and sunset.

Muslims dedicate their time during the holy month to be closer to Allah through prayers, self-restraint and good deeds.

It is customary for Muslims to spend part of the days during Ramadan studying the Noble Qur’an.

Many men perform i`tikaf (spiritual retreat), spending the last 10 days of the month exclusively in the mosque.
