SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Hashimi Shahroodi answered questions about inheriting from parents by the illegitimate child.

Question: If in some cases when the man and the woman are not married but due to adultery the woman gets pregnant; is the child considered as illegitimate by birth? Is this child related to parents? And also can the child inherit from parents or like other illegitimate children is deprived from inheritance?

The Grand Ayatollah Shahroodi: If the Nikah sermon has been recited even not correctly, the child is considered legitimate; otherwise the child is illegitimate and cannot inherit from parents and their relatives.
