Can the mortgaged property be re-mortgaged? The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered a question about re-mortgaging the mortgaged property.

Question: Can the owner who has mortgaged his property, re-mortgage the same property to the second person to cover his debts before the property is released from the first mortgage?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: Until the previous (first) mortgage is not released, the second mortgage without the permission from the first person who mortgaged the property is considered as unauthorized dealing, and (the re-mortgage) depends only on the permission of the first person who mortgaged the property.
