Can the person who does not pay Khoms and Zakat from his wealth, spend from that wealth in the way of Imam Hussain (AS)? The Grand Ayatollah Safi’s answers

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Safi answered questions about spending in the way of Imam Hussain (AS) from the wealth which Khoms has not been paid for.

Question: If a person does not perform Salaat, and does not fast, and spend for Imam Hussain (AS), and beats on his chest, and cries, and also the person who does not pay Khoms and Zakat from his wealth, can he spend from that wealth in the way of Imam Hussain (AS)? Are there any rewards for such a person?

The Grand Ayatollah Safi: Performing Salaat and fasting are Wajib, but mourning and crying for Imam Hussain (AS) are Mostahab. The human being (a Muslim) must perform Salaat and fast and also mourn, and pay the Wajib Khoms which is due first. When the Khoms is paid, then spend for charitable deeds in the way of Imam Hussain (AS); and spending from the money which Khoms must be paid from that money, before the payment of Khoms for any other deeds even if it is charity, is Haram.
