SHAFAQNA – A German foreign ministry spokeswoman on Friday refused to comment on statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who vowed to scuttle a deal on Iran’s nuclear program.
Asked at a routine weekly press briefing in Berlin on Netanyahu’s controversial statements, Sawsan Chebli said she did not want to comment on his remarks.
She added the German position on the Iranian nuclear issue was clear, reiterating Berlin’s ongoing efforts to seek a diplomatic solution to the standoff over Tehran’s nuclear program.
Chebli stressed her country’s strong will and firm determination within the E3 plus 3 group (US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany) to finally resolve the Iranian nuclear impasse.
Facing strong international isolation over his Iran policy, Netanyahu declared earlier he would continue to try to defeat an expected agreement between the six world powers and Iran over the latter’s nuclear program.
