SHAFAQNA-
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ | In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful | |
يَا مَنْ أَرْجُوهُ لِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ، | ya man arjuhu likulli khayrin, | O He Whom alone I hope for all good things; |
وآمَنُ سَخَطَهُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ شَرٍ ، | wa amanu sakhatahu `inda kulli sharrin, | And I am safe from His anger at every evil. |
يَا مَنْ يُعْطِي الْكَثِيرَ بِالْقَلِيلِ، | ya man yu`ty alkathira bilqalili, | O He who gives a lot in exchange of a little. |
يَا مَنْ يُعْطَي مَنْ سَأَلَهُ | ya man yu`ty man salahu, | O He who gives to one who asks Him. |
يَا مَنْ يُعْطي مَنْ لَمْ يَسْأَلْهُ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْرِفْهُ تَحَنُّناً مِنْهُ وَرَحْمَةً، | ya man yu`ty man lam yasalhu wa man lam ya`rifhu tahannnan minhu wa rahmatan, | O He who gives to one who does not ask Him and does not know Him, Out of His affection and mercy. |
أَعْطِنِي بِمَسْأَلتِي إيَّاكَ جَمِيعِ خَيْرِ الدُّنْيَا، | a`tiny bimasalaty iiyyaka jami`a khayri alddunya | Give me, for my request is only to You alone, All the good of this world |
وَجَمِيعِ خَيْرِ الآخِرَةِ، | wa jami`a khayri alakhirati, | and all the good of the Hereafter. |
وَاصْرِفْ عَنّي بِمَسْألَتي إيَّاكَ جَميعَ شَرِّ الدُّنْيا وَشَرِّ الآخِرَة | wasrif `anni bimasalaty iiyyaka jami`a sharr alddunyawa sharr alakhirati, | Keep away from me, for my request is only to You alone, All the evil of this world and the evil of the Hereafter. |
فَإنَّهُ غَيْرُ مَنْقُوصٍ مَا أَعْطَيْتَ، | fa’innhu ghayru manqusin ma a`tayta, | For indeed it is not diminishing what is given by You. |
وَزِدْنِي مِنْ سَعَةِ فَضْلِكَ يَا كَرِيمُ. | wa zidny min fazlika yakarimu. | Increase (for) me from Your bounty, O The Generous |
The narrator then added that Imam al-Sadiq (a.s), then, grasped his beard with his left hand, while reciting this supplication, and moved ceaselessly his forefinger of his right hand. He then uttered the following:
يَا ذَاَ الْجَلالِ وَالإكْرَامِ، | ya dhal-jalali wal-ikrami | O The Sublime and The Distinguished, |
يَا ذَاَ النَّعْمَاءِ وَالْجُودِ، | ya dhalnna`ma’i wal-judi | O The Bountiful and The Magnanimous, |
يَا ذَاَ الْمَنِّ وَالطَّوْلِ، | ya dhal-manni walttawli | O the Gracious and the Mighty, |
حَرِّمْ شَيْبَتِي عَلَى النَّارِ. | harrim shaybaty `ala alnnar | Save my grey hairs of the beard from the fire (of Hell) |
