Dutch man who tweeted about cheers from Muslim students gets visit from cops

SHAFAQNA- A Dutch man appeared to be in hot water after tweeting his dismay upon hearing some Muslims students in Belgium cheered after the attacks in Brussels.

“How do you still teach when the Muslim children in your class applaud?” Ivar Mol of tweeted.

But what happened next was most surprising: Mol was visited by three police officers at his home in Breda who told him his tweet was asking for trouble.

“They said they were ordered by the mayor and that there was great stress on the town,” he told RTL News. “It was a kind of warning: be careful what you put on the Internet.”

Police told the Dutch TV station they were simply investigating the source of the tweet.

“We wanted to see what was going on and whether it is true that there was applause in the classroom,” a spokesman said.

The mayor apologized to Mol nonetheless.

“It was a terribly stupid action,” Breda’s mayor Paul Depla told the station. “I knew nothing about it,”
