Earning Halal sustenance is a religious decree

SHAFAQNA – The Prophet of Islam (PBUH) said: Earning Halal income is the duty of every Muslim man and woman [1]. In another narration, the Prophet (PBUH) said: There are 10 parts to prayers, 9 of them, relate to earning Halal income [2]. Imam Baqer (AS) in his prayers to God said: O’ Allah (SWT), grant me a Halal sustenance that suffices me and do not give me the sustenance which will lead me to rebellion and do not trap me with the poverty that will make me helpless [3].

In another narration, the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) said: Whoever eats from his/her Halal sustenance, the doors of paradise will open to him/her so that he/she can enter from any one of them [4]. Fazel ibn Abi Qoreh said: I went to Imam Sadeq (AS) and saw him working in his garden. I told Imam (AS): Please allow me or your workers help you. Imam (AS) replied: No, I like Allah (SWT) see me working and trying to earn Halal sustenance [5].
