Explosion in eastern Iraq kills one, injures 8 others

SHAFAQNA – IRNA : One person was killed and eight others wounded in blast of an explosive charge in the city of Al Khalis in the eastern province of Diyala Saturday night, local media reported.

The explosive charge went off in a marketplace in the middle of Al Khalis city, Reuters reported.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the explosion.

The is the second explosion taking place in Iraq in the past 24 hours. In a similar blast in Kirkuk , northern Iraq, a woman was killed and 14 others wounded.

According to Kirkuk police, two explosions took place on Quds and Baghdad streets in central Kirkuk late Friday.

The terrorist acts are taking place while in the past month remnants of the Daesh terrorist groups have been engaged in clashes with security forces several times in some border points.

Iraqi forces including army, Hashad al-Shaabi (popular mobilization forces) and federal police during 1,256 days of fierce battle with terrorists liberated all Iraqi cities.

On December 10,2017, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi declared the end of war on Daesh terrorist group.
