Fasting, one way to divine piety

SHAFAQNA – Whoever wishes to reach to the level of divine piety must do it by being an obedient servant of Allah (SWT) as mentioned in Ayahs 21, 63, 179 and 183 of Surah Al-Baqarah. One of the ways for getting to divine piety is through fasting. Ayah 183 of Surah Al-Baqarah says: You who believe, fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed before you so that you will be pious. It is clearly stated in this Ayah that fasting is a way to divine piety. Fasting is a Jihad against ones desires and can be used to attain a relative self control as well as combating carnal desires and paving the way towards divine piety.
