First Stage of Plan for Identifying Quranic Talents Concludes in Iraq

SHAFAQNA-

According to Qaaf news agency, Mohammad Baqir al-Mansouri, a member of the committee for implementing the plan, said the month-long project in Karbala has concluded.

He said it included offering specialized courses on memorization and recitation of the Quran and selecting the best participants.

Those who excelled in the first stage will start the courses in the second stage after five days, he added.

Some 1000 top Qaris and memorizers from different parts of Iraq will attend the second stage.

The best ones from among the 1000 participants will be selected to represent the Arab country in international Quranic events, including Quran competitions.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
