How to ward off Satan?

SHAFAQNA – It is narrated that Imam Ali (AS) asked the Prophet of Islam (PBUH): What can we do to ward off Satan? The Prophet (PBUH) replied: Fasting makes black the face of Satan, and spending money and being generous in the way of God, breaks Satan’s back, and to like for the sake of God and attending good deeds, cuts Satan’s tail, and repentance cuts the vein of Satan’s heart [1]. It is narrated that Lady Fatimah Zahra (SA) in a sermon in the Mosque of the Prophet (PBUH) said: And God designated fasting for firmness in sincerity [2].
