I did not fast in my early years of adulthood, is it Wajib for me to compensate for those days and pay Kaffarah? The Grand Ayatollah Sistani’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Sistani answered a question about not fasting in early years of adulthood.

Question: It is probable that I did not fast in my early years of adulthood, is it Wajib for me to compensate for those days and pay Kaffarah?

The Grand Ayatollah Sistani: If you consider it probable that at that time you did not understand the meaning of duty, or you consider it probable that at that time, you were sure that eating was allowed (for you), fasting (for missed days) is enough, and Kaffarah is not necessary.
