If a person is poor and cannot work, who must pay for his/her expenses? The Grand Ayatollah Safi’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Safi answered a question about paying for expenses of a poor person.

The Grand Ayatollah Safi: If a person is poor and cannot work, his/her father must pay for his/her expenses. And if he/she has no father, or (father) cannot pay his/her expenses, if has no child to pay for his/her expenses, the paternal grandfather must pay for his/her expenses, and if has no paternal grandfather, or he cannot pay for expenses, his/her mother must pay for expenses, and if has no mother, or she cannot pay for expenses, the mother of the father, and mother of the mother, and the father of the mother together pay for his/her expenses, and if has no mother of father and mother of the mother, or they cannot pay for his/her expenses, if he can, maternal father must pay for his/her expenses.
