IHIT looking for witnesses to beating death of Surrey teen

SHAFAQNA (International Shia News Association) Homicide investigators continue to search for the suspects responsible after a young teen died following a vicious assault in Surrey early yesterday morning.

Staff Sergeant Jennifer Pound says a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old were attacked shortly after 2:30 a.m. by a group of up to five people in the area of 156th Street and 18th Avenue.

“We believe that it happened outside, the assault took place outside. The two teen victims then fled to a nearby home,” she explains. “We believe that there was a group of people hanging around yesterday. We believe there was alcohol consumed which makes our investigation a little bit more difficult in the beginning stages. We are looking to put out a public advisory and reach those who might have some information about this.”

Fifteen-year-old Dario Bartoli died in the hospital several hours after the attack. Weapons were used in the assault, but police won’t say what kind.

The other boy wasn’t hurt and the motive for the assault is unknown.
