Iran condemned continued detention of Sheikh Salman in Bahrain

SHAFAQNA – Iran condemned arrest of protestors in Bahrain, saying that continued detention of Sheikh Ali Salman, the leader of al-Wefaq Society is ‘unacceptable’.

“We condemn the arrest of protestors in Bahrain which has happened several times and is a continuous process. Continued detention of Sheikh Salman and stopping activities of his society is unacceptable,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Wednesday.

She further expressed the hope that Bahraini government would deal with protestors with more ‘flexible’ approach and paves the way for political talks in the country.

Afkham warned that the ongoing security approach in Bahrain is in favor of neither the nation nor the government, as calling on Bahraini officials to hear the voice of protestors and meet their demands.
