SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- Representatives from Iran and the three European Union countries involved in negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear energy program are to hold a fresh round of expert-level talks soon.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in the Austrian capital Vienna on Thursday that the Islamic Republic and the EU three — France, Germany and the United Kingdom — will start the talks within the next one or two weeks, IRNA reported.

The final decision on the exact day for the resumption of the talks is yet to be made.

Zarif further noted that progress was made in “very difficult” nuclear talks with the P5+1 group — the US, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany — this week.

“It was very difficult, serious and intensive… but instead of focusing on problems, we discussed solutions as well. There was progress in all the fields,” the Iranian foreign minister pointed out.

“We still need serious discussions over various issues,” Zarif said.

Zarif also said he would next meet US Secretary of State John Kerry and European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton in three to four weeks’ time in a city other than Vienna.

The Iranian foreign minister further stated that Tehran and its negotiating partners are against extending a November 24 deadline for a final deal over Iran’s civilian nuclear work.

“We only have 40 days left to the deadline and… none of the negotiators find (an) extension of talks appropriate. We share this view… and we think there is no need to even think about it,” Zarif said.

Iran and the six powers are in talks to work out a final agreement aimed at ending the longstanding dispute over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

Last November, the two sides clinched an interim nuclear accord, which took effect on January 20 and expired six months later. However, they agreed to extend their talks until November 24 as they remained divided on a number of key issues.
