Iran Majlis speaker:Regional countries should help Kobani

Ali Larijani said war against terrorism in Iraq and Syria has become very complicated, but it has no military solution.

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday urged regional states to prevent massacre of the people in Kobani by the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as Daesh) militants.

Talking to reporters, he criticized a regional state’s proposal to create a protected buffer zone in Syria.

He underlined that Iran will do its best to help the besieged people of Kobani against terrorists.

The ISIL militants have been trying to capture Kobani over the past few weeks, but failed to do so amid stiff resistance by Kurdish forces.

Kurdish fighters have vowed to defend the Syrian Kurdish border town.

Kobani and its surroundings have been under attack since mid-September, with ISIL militants capturing dozens of nearby Kurdish villages.

The weeks-long intense battle for the town has forced nearly 200,000 people to take refuge in Turkey.

While the Turkish government has repeatedly closed its border to tens of thousands of more Kobani refugees, its borderguards and army troops do not allow Kurdish fighters to cross the border into Syria and join the fight against the ISIL terrorists either.
