Iran, Pakistan sign memorandum of understanding

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and his Pakistani counterpart Ayaz Sadiq signed a memorandum of understanding on parliamentary cooperation.

Part of the agreement reads that Iran-Pakistan borders are borders of friendship and brotherhood and both countries condemn measures by certain terrorist elements to create insecurity along the borders.

Highlighting common concerns about spread of terrorism, drug smuggling and insecurity in the region, the deal also declared support for cooperation to create sustainable security in the region.

The deal underlined significance of strengthening parliamentary ties between Iran and Pakistan as an effective factor in consolidating bilateral ties and boosting communications between the two countries’ parliaments.

Larijani, current on an official visit to Pakistan, is scheduled to meet President Mamnoon Hussain and Chairman of Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari on Friday.
