Iran to Hold Joint Naval Exercise with China

The 17th Flotilla of Chinese Navy berthed in Abbas Port, Southern Iran, for the first time a few days ago.

SHAFAQNA- Tehran, 22 Sept – Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the country plans to hold a joint naval exercise with China when the visiting Chinese flotilla leaves Iranian ports, where it has berthed.

According to ISNA , “When the Chinese flotilla leaves the country’s southern ports, a one-day joint naval practice with the aim of exchanging information, naval security, rescue and tactical coordination will be held,” he said on the sidelines of Iranian Armed Forces parade on Monday.

The flotilla includes Changchun Cruiser and Changchu Destroyer which berthed in the Iranian port in a bid to boost interactions between the two countries. Two other large Chinese destroyers berthed in Abbas Port on Sunday. The Chinese flotilla was returning a mission in the Gulf of Aden when it stopped in Iran.

He also noted that Iran would unveil Fateh (Conqueror) submarine and Damavand Destroyer on November 28.

Iranian Army also plans to hold a drill codenamed “Velayat’ in coming months, Sayyari said.
