Iran to host 1st Intl. Conf. on World against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- Head of “First International Conference of World against Violence and Extremism” announced that the event would start on Tuesday in Tehran.

In a press conference held in Center for Political and International Studies of foreign Ministry on Saturday morning, Mostafa Zahraei said the conference would be launched on upcoming Tuesday and would continue for two days until December 10. “Officials from more than 40 countries will participate the conference,” added Zahraei.

According to Zahraei, foreign ministers of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Nicaragua as well as former Norwegian and French PMs and former Prince of Jordan will attend the event. “Several ministers from Islamic countries along with scholars form Asia, Europe and the US would be among guests.”

Pointing to the agenda of the conference, head of the conference asserted that the event would be inaugurated by President Rouhani addressing the gathering. “The conference is the continuation of the international even held in Qom and we want this conference to become an international entity. This issue would be decided upon in this conference,” added Mostafa Zahraei.

Highlighting that the permanent secretariat of this conference would be in Tehran, Zahraei stated that one country had accepted to host the conference for next year.

He also said that this conference would not have final statement and “our aim is to have an administrative instruction, which has been created on the basis of President Rouhani’s speech at the UN and became a resolution.”

The outcome of the conference would be offered to the UN and would have some demand from different countries and non-governmental actors in the world.
