Iranian films to vie at Valencia Filmfest

SHAFAQNA - Two Iranian films will take part in the 30th Edition of International Film Festival of Valencia Cinema Jove in Spain.

Co-produced by Iran and France, Hamed Rajabi’s A Minor Leap Down will participate in feature film section and Iran-Italy co-product Child directed by Ali Askari will represent Iran in short film section of the festival.

A Minor Leap Down is about a thirty-year-old woman, Nahal, which spends her fourth month of pregnancy. During a routine check-up she learns that her baby has died and she now faces a curettage abortion in two days’ time. When she tries to address the subject, neither her mother nor her husband give her a chance to speak.

Valencia International Film Festival gathers young filmmakers from all over the world every month of June and focuses on the most interesting and creative films. Two competitive sections constitute the thrust of a program which also include tributes, retrospectives and exhibitions.
