Iraqi FM president Masoom to visit Saudi to stop Sheikh Nimr execution

SHAFAQNA – Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, reveals on  Saturday, that the Iraqi government began persuading the Saudi authorities to stop the decision to execute Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, pointing out that the President of the Republic of Iraq Fuad Masum, will travel to Riyadh soon, while he repeat refusal any troops on the ground to Iraq. Jaafari said during a joint press conference with Australian counterpart Julie Bishop held today in Baghdad, “We started particularly trying to persuade Saudi Arabia to stop the decision to execute Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.”

Jaafari added that “there is an intention for the President of the Republic Fuad Masum to visit Saudi Arabia, but we re-schedule our schedule in particular intend to move this file.” al-Jaafari, said that “the entry of ground forces on the ground is a red line because the sovereignty of Iraq, may be affected by this,” noting that “the message addressed to the President of the Security Council was clear that take into account the coalition of Iraq’s sovereignty and coordination with the Iraqi armed forces and avoid civilian targets and to respect the constitution”
