SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday that elimination of extremism would be possible by fundamental and profound measures and not the
show and tactical moves.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Norway’s Foreign Minister Borge Brende.
Larijani said the Middle East is now under very sensitive and grave condition and that the recent decade marked a highly tumultuous era in the region.
“What we are witnessing in the region is dangerous extremism and neo-terrorism requiring international resolve to stop the crimes against humanity being perpetrated in the Middle East by fundamental and strong and not tactical and false measures.”
He said Iranian Majlis welcomes further expansion of political, economic and trade cooperation and ties with Norway.
Larijani said that the religious edict (Fatwa) by the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei prohibiting manufature and stockpiling and use of the nuclear weapons sets a logical and reliable basis for Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
Citing the reports of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Larijani said that the UN nuclear agency has verified non-diversion of Iranian nuclear program from the civilian purpose in repetitive reports several times.
Brende said for his part that the Islamic Republic of Iran is an important and influential country in the region and that his visit coincides with important developments that are taking place in the region.
He said that unfavorable incidents took place in the key Middle East region, having their roots in extremism and terrorism.
He said appearance of terrorist groups in certain countries, which aimed to confront extremism and terrorism, turned into an inferno against themselves.
Lauding Iran’s constructive role in restoration of stability and calm in Iraq and Syria, the Norwegian Foreign Minister said regional cooperation for establishment of sustainable tranquility in the sensitive region of the world is essential.
He hoped that once final accord is reached between Iran and the Western governments over nuclear dispute, new horizons will open favoring expansion of political, economic and cultural relations between the countries.
