IRNA/ Geneva confab welcomes Iran suggestions on Afghanistan

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – Iran’s twin-suggestions to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) were welcomed by an international conference in Geneva on Afghanistan reconstruction and root causes of refugee flows, an official at the Interior Ministry said on Friday.

General Director for Foreign Nationals Bureau Aziz Kazemi told IRNA the first suggestion was to pay due attention to the issue of reconstructing Afghanistan including schools, medical clinics, houses and creating job opportunities as of the next year, Kazemi said.

Iran’s second suggestion was that the root causes of refugee status should be reviewed as a global problem by UNHCR expert teams, he added.

The official also described as positive the relations between Iran and the UN refugee agency.
