IRNA/ Optimism over early, final nuclear deal

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – A political analyst expressed optimism that Iran and the P5+1 group of world powers will sign a final nuclear deal before the November 24 deadline.

Ali Bigdeli made the statement in an interview with the English-language newspaper ‘Iran Daily’ published Tuesday.

Bigdeli noted that strong signs indicate that both sides are determined to reach the final, comprehensive deal as projected.

The swift advance of the ISIL terrorist group in the region and the need for stopping the Takifiri militants is one of the main reasons for putting an end to the nuclear dispute, he added.

“Both Iran and P5+1 have common interests in the region and these commonalities are pushing them to cooperate in defusing the ISIL threat,” he said.

The political expert noted that the continuation of nuclear dispute can be problematic in the face of a possible security cooperation between Iran and the West for resolving the terrorism problem in the region.

“The Europeans and Americans are more interested in reaching the deal because they know that Iran is a key factor in defeating the terrorists operating in Iraq and Syria,” he said.

The ISIL terrorists made swift advances in much of northern and western Iraq in summer after capturing large swathes of territory in neighboring Syria.

The Takfiri extremists have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and Izadi Kurds, during their advances in Iraq.

Bigdeli also said US President Barack Obama and his Democrat allies need the deal with Iran to use it as a game changer to win in the upcoming Congress elections.

He noted that during a meeting between Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu early this month, the US president stressed that he is open to Iran continuing to enrich uranium for civilian purposes and rejected Tel Aviv’s demand for a complete halt to Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

The analyst said these remarks showed that the Congress and pro-Israeli lobbies in the United States have accepted the policy of the White House for continuing talks with Iran.

“These evidences show very well that both sides have no choice but to reach a comprehensive deal before the deadline,” he said.

The comments came as Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who is also a senior Iranian negotiator, said on Friday that nuclear negotiations may be extended if an agreement can’t be reached by the November 24 deadline.

“Everything, including an extension, is possible if we cannot reach an agreement,” he said.

Iran and six world powers remain deadlocked on key issues in the talks.

The negotiations aim to produce a deal that would ease economic sanctions on Iran.
